Tracy Ellen Christensen
January 23, 1963 - April 25, 2026

Place of Birth: Watford City, North Dakota
Residence: Watford City, North Dakota
Age: 63

Tracy Ellen (Syverson) Christensen was tragically taken from us in a car accident on April 25, 2026. She was 63 years old. Tracy was born at the Watford City Hospital on January 23, 1963, to Floyde and Luella Syverson. She enjoyed her childhood playing with friends, neighbors, and cousins on the family farm located south of town. Having her paternal grandparents next door made for great family times. As she grew up, she was involved with farming by spending time on the tractor. She graduated a year early in 1980 from Watford City High School where she participated in track, volleyball, and band.

Tracy went to Black Hills State University where she obtained her BS degree in Sociology. It was here that she met the love of her life, Mark Christensen. They were married December 15, 1984, in Rapid City, SD, at The Chapel in the Hills, a replica of the Borgund Stavkirke in Norway. She enjoyed working with children’s services in the Black Hills area. She also obtained her Master’s Degree in Clinical Therapy from Augustan University in the early 1990’s before they moved to Sheboygan, WI. There, she continued her career working with youth and adults, primarily in Drug and Alcohol Rehab. She worked with different agencies, but always her focus remained on helping people with their addiction. Tracy and Mark made several lifelong friends in Wisconsin. Later, they moved to Prescott, AZ, where she became the Director of a recovery center. After six years, they moved back to Oshkosh, WI, and she immediately returned to helping people recover from addiction. In 2014, they moved to Watford City, where she became a Gas and Oil Consultant helping her father, Floyde Syverson. Upon her father’s death, she resumed her counseling career, devoting her time and energy into helping people in the Watford City area. Tracy was a strong Christian and deeply devoted to caring for people wherever she lived. Because of her strong passion for helping others, she made a deep impact on thousands of people’s lives.

In her early years, Tracy was a force to be reckoned with in the powerlifting community, both in SD and WI. She set a number of powerlifting records, and she lifted for the ADFPA. Tracy and Mark enjoyed their time camping, hiking, and especially jeeping. They belonged to several Jeep Clubs, both in SD and ND. They also loved to attend Drag Racing events with their good friends, Walt and Sue. Tracy would often find a way to slide into position, close to the start line, where she loved the thunder and vibration of the engines. She had her favorites that she loudly cheered on. Tracy loved taking care of her trees on the farm, which was a constant battle against the deer, worms, grasshoppers, and Mark’s zero turn lawn mower. She was a proud member of the Sons of Norway and the Glory of the Lord Family Ministries church.

Tracy is survived by her husband, Mark Christensen; brother, Todd (Lana) Syverson; brothers-in-law, Keith Christensen, Steve Christensen; sisters-in-law, Betty (Emil) Valdez, Sonya Christensen; nieces, Yvonne Valdez, Jenna (Tim) McGhee; nephews, Doug Valdez, Chet (Kelley) Syverson, Tate (Kaiti) Syverson; and a large extended family of aunts, uncle, cousins, great nieces and nephews, and so many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyde and Luella Syverson; in-laws, Herb and Ona Christensen, and brother-in-law, Larry Christensen.

Mark, I am heartbroken to hear of Tracy's unexpected death. I so fondly remember many good times working side by side together on the CD Unit. I learned so much from Tracy and loved her spirit, her humor, and her kindness. I'm so very sorry Mark for your loss. Words are never adequate at times like this but I want you to know I will always remember Tracy and hold space in my heart for her.
Sincerely with Love, Kathy Tootle

Mark, I am so glad I had the short chance to meet you both. I will miss getting to know her more, although, with Sue's memories, I feel like I do know her. She had the best attitude and always seemed to be happy. I will praying for your comfort in this time and know that GOD has his arms around you. Let his strength take over right now and let him carry you through this storm.

Mark. you were just here in Prescott, we talked of the good times we have shared, we all shared a hug and a "see you next time" not knowing it was our last time on earth with Tracey, I will miss those moments but always remember the joy Tracey brought with her. Take care Mark and know I am praying for you in this time of sorrow for your lost and peace for the days ahead.

This is a shock. I think we began when I joined the CDU team in 1993. She loved the Experiential Therapy and had this way of celebrating you like you were the most important person on earth. We were cohorts professionally and in causing fun pranks at work. She and Mark became part of our family and joined all celebratory events and adventures - willingly participating in ding-n- dash escapades with my kids. The list couid go on. We played together, shared meals, prayed together, and they even lived with us for a while between moves. My children had these two as supports and as friends to stir up trouble and fun. So did I of course. Faith gives us hope and recognition that we are here preparing for our next visit when we are reunited. Love you Tracy
