Carl Wold, 88, of Tioga, ND passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at Tioga Medical Center in Tioga, ND.

On a snowy, cold January night in 1936, Carl was born to Christ and Kari (Grindstuen) Wold, in Powers Lake, ND. As the story was told to him, he was brought home to the farm by horse and sleigh. When they got home, they unwrapped him and realized he was upside down, and he stayed that way the rest of his life, according to Grandpa.

He went to school in McGregor and graduated from there in 1956. He attended one year of business college earning a degree in junior accounting. Carl served in the US Army for 2 years in Germany, where he met his future wife, Gisela. Carl and Gisela were married in the Scandia Lutheran Church in rural McGregor on June 8, 1962. The couple moved to Tioga where he worked in the oil field and raised their 2 children, Sheldon and Sheila and a great-grandchild, Gauge.

His favorite holiday was Christmas. Listening to Christmas music, Old Time Country Music and Polka, especially when played by his best friend, Arlo. His favorite hobby was taking care of his yard. He enjoyed taking 3 trips to Germany with his family and visiting the Black Hills in South Dakota. Carl was a hardworking, honest, kind and humble man.

Carl is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gisela; daughter, Sheila Wolla; grandchildren, Kylie Wold and her children, great-grandchildren, Gauge, Haze and Ryker, Kalab (Josie) Wolla and their children, great-grandchildren, Ryder, Cooper and Miller Wolla, Kendra (Gabe) Karg, and their children, great-grandchildren, Lawler, Lucy and Charlotte Karg; Hanne Feinhauer, Michael (Gudrun) Strohekker, Barbara Stahl; numerous nieces and nephews.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, son, Sheldon and his wife, Lori Wold, father and mother-in-law, Ludwig and Gertrude Berger; siblings, Nels (Marilyn) Wold, Olav Wold, Gunda (Bill) DeKraai, Sophia (Dale) Fuhrman; son-in-law, Jon Wolla.
