Charles Juma, 90, of Stanley, North Dakota, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at his home in Rosen Place in Stanley, North Dakota.

Charles Juma Jr. was born August 29, 1934 on their homestead near Ross, North Dakota, the son of Charlie and Sada (Gader) Juma. Charles passed away on September 10, 2024 at the Assisted Living Facility in Stanley, North Dakota, where he resided for the last 2 years.

Charles was raised and worked on the family farm, attended school in Ross, and was an active member of the 4-H Club. In February 1955, he joined the Armed Forces and was Honorably Discharged in February 1957. He then returned home to the farm, and farmed and ranched alongside his dad and brother, Hassen, eventually taking over the operation.

On October 12, 1963, Charles married Marlys Nohr. Together, they raised their four children. They continued the farming and ranching operation, where they worked side by side. Throughout the years, Charles did various other jobs including, cattle hauling, custom combining, and working at the American Legion Club.

Charles was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran of Ross where he was baptized and confirmed, and was a proud member of the Charles Hartman Post 134 and also served as a Commander. He and Marlys enjoyed their many trips to Nevada, their frequent trips to 4 Bears Casino, and going to the lake to spend time with family and friends. He loved spending quality time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He continued to enjoy farming and ranching activities beyond his retirement years.

Charles is survived by his daughters, Michelle (Roger) Harstad, Dana (Jay) Harstad, Candace (John) Brown; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Juma; grandchildren, Tyler, Chelsea (Riley), Trevor (Lacey) Harstad, Brittney (Lorin) Johnson, Jayden (Kennedi) Harstad, Jayce Harstad, Hannah (Josh) Boyko, Chase Brown; great grandchildren, Otto & Nora Johnson, Blayze Blankenship; sisters-in-law, AnnaMae (Cal) Wamre, Donna Jensen; brothers-in-law, Ron Herfindahl, Bob (Jill) Nohr, and several nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Marlys; son, Bradley; parents, Charlie & Sada; brother, Hassen; sisters, Rosie (Wally) Chamley, Marian Herfindahl; brothers-in law, LeRoy (Joyce) Nohr and Dick Jensen; sister-in-law, Marlene (Donny) Marmon.

I knew Charlie from many years ago. He has lost so many people in his life. But know his grandsons are making him happy. God bless a life well lived!!

So very sorry to hear of Charlie’s passing. What a wonderful man he was. We had many a visits at the implement, field, and legion. Love and hugs to his wonderful family. He will be greatly missed.
