James E. Tackett was born May 19, 1932 in Eunice, West Virginia to Elmer and Barbara (Barker) Douglas. He was one of seven children. During his young years in WV, he worked various jobs including the coal mines.

In 1951 he married Bonnie Scarbro (Scott). From this union two children, Terry and Jim were born. They later divorced.

In 1958 he moved his family to Illinois where he worked for the Village of Glenco for 20 years before going to work at the AMC assembly plant in Kenosha, WI and was a member of the United Auto Workers.

In 1971 he met his wife and step-son, Todd and together they had one daughter, Patty.

Upon his retirement in 1989 he moved to Tioga, ND where he has enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his family.

He spent countless hours fishing, working on this and that at the shop or sitting watching the day go by with his best buddy, Bob Fuson.

He is survived by his wife, Jane, of 53 years; daughter, Terry (Verdean) Roloff; step-son, Todd (Chrissie) Lux; daughter, Patty (Dean) Hersel; granddaughters, Crissy Syverson, Melissa ( Jerry ) Ralph and Samantha (Justin) Postovit, Jessica (Danny) Kern and Sara Lux; great-grandchildren, Riley Syverson, Kyle Syverson, Taylor Ohlhauser, Jace Goeringer, Caitlyn O'Cain, Josh O'Cain, Brett Ralph, Kayla Ralph and Evan Ralph; and great-great grandson, Elijah Ralph.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, son, Jim and great grandson, Carson.
