Bernard Walker, 77, of Stanley, ND, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the Mountrail Bethel Home in Stanley, North Dakota.

Bernard Walker was born to Pauline and Paul Walker southwest of Stanley, North Dakota on September 10, 1946. He grew up and graduated from Palermo High School. Ben enlisted in the United States Army on September 2, 1967 in Fargo, North Dakota. He was stationed in Kentucky at both Fort Campbell and Fort Knox. Ben served in the armed forces for 10 years and 8 months. During his service he spent 3 years and 11 months in Germany during the Vietnam War. During his time in Korea Ben met his one true love, Kim “Yong Cha” and they were married on September 5, 1975 at the American Embassy in Korea.

Ben had a love for animals, especially dogs. He loved his frequent visits with Dixie and Chewy. Ben loved visits from friends and family, especially Don and Connie Longmuir. Over the years Ben developed close relationships especially with Jarrod and Carly Mudderman. He thought of Carly as the daughter he never had, and they shared a special bond. Ben loved the Mountrail Bethel Home staff and many friendships with other residents. He looked forward to time spent with Kelly Gustavson and their visits and her candy dish.

Bernard is survived by his siblings, Melvin, Carol, Paulette, Edward and Arnie.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kim; and sister, Marian.

Memorial Contribution
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Mountrail Bethel Home.

Condolences to Bennie's family and friends. Worked with Bennie for years, quite a few memories and laughs such a good person, he will be missed.
