Alice Mae was born on February 7, 1928 to Gust and Julia Melberg on the family farm in Burke County, ND. She attended schools in Powers Lake, ND and graduated in 1946. She attended church at Bethel Lutheran Church in Battleview where she was confirmed in her Lutheran Faith. Alice Mae met the love of her life Wallace “Wally” Moody and they were married a short time later on September 4, 1948 in Wildrose, ND. From this union came 4 children Jay, Sally, Peggy, and Alan.

Alice Mae worked on the farm with Wally where they farmed wheat in Battleview, along with their cows and chickens. She was part of the Ladies Aid at Bethel Lutheran for a majority of her life. Alice Mae loved meeting the ladies of the aid to quilt once a week for many years. Alice Mae was very strong in her faith which she proudly passed along to her children and grandchildren.

Alice Mae was known for welcoming her family and friends with a plate of fresh cookies and a pot of fresh coffee. Along with her lefsa and chokecherry jelly. She and Wally enjoyed camping, traveling, and spending time with family but especially their grandchildren. Alice Mae loved collecting stamps, quilting, cooking, and gardening.

In Alice Mae’s later years, she and Wally moved to Bismarck away from the family farm. She enjoyed spending time with Wally and listening to music. In 2016, she lost the love of her life but continued to live in Bismarck, near her son Alan, but still was close with all her children and grandchildren.

Alice Mae is Survived by her children; Sally (Patrick) Golberg of Watford City, Peggy (Jerome) Anderson of Ross, Alan (Carol Knudtson) Moody of Bismarck, Daughter in Law; Marlene Moody of Battleview, Brother in Law; Robert (Kay) Moody of Williston, Sister in Law; Opal Maruskie of Battleview, Grandchildren; Gerald (Jackie) Golberg, Marcus (Celeste) Moody, Jami (Jeff) Beaty, Shayla (Jay) Sorenson, Melissa (Craig) Berger, Kali (Pase) Kukla, and 12 Great-Grandchildren and many Nieces and Nephews who were very special to her.

She is Preceded in death by her Husband; Wallace Moody, Parents; Gust and Julia Melberg, Son; Jay Moody, Sisters; Harriet Burau and Jeanette Nordby.

I am so sorry to hear of Alice Mae’s passing. I remember her when I was going to school in Powers Lake, I was in Alan’s class. She was always so sweet. Keep her memories close. She will be sadly missed
