Ray Gene Myers
December 12, 1953 - April 16, 2023

Place of Birth: Ekalaka, Montana
Residence: Raymond, WA, formerly of Sidney, MT
Age: 69

Ray Gene Myers was the first child of Bill and Donna Myers, born on December 12, 1953. Ray was also the first grandchild on his maternal side and formed a deep bond with his grandfather and grandmother. He lived with his family including sister, Terry and brother, Pat, in Glendive, Montana. When Ray was six years old, his family relocated to Sidney, Montana where he finished high school in 1972.

As a youngster, he was involved in cub scouts, football, track, golf, and symphonic band. After high school, Ray won the Sidney Invitational Golf Tournament a couple of times. He started his college career at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana where his roommates were his best buddies, Steve Mullen and Bob Iversen, from Sidney. After two years, he transferred to Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, where he earned his bachelor of science degree in Agronomy with a Turf Grass Management emphasis. He was hired directly out of college, by a resort company in Houston, Texas, to manage their golf courses. After a couple of years at the Woodlands courses in Houston, he was promoted to Superintendent and transferred to Pirate’s Beach Resort Country Club on Galveston Island, Texas. He remained in that position throughout his career. During his time in Galveston, Ray also owned and operated an irrigation business, Myers Sprinkler Company, for many years. Family friends of Ray's family and friends remember his wry sense of humor, love of music, kindness, generosity and compassion for people and animals.

Ray and his wife, Debra, divorced and they had no children. Later, he was in a long-term relationship with Elizabeth Diamond until her death several years ago. Ray died on April 16, 2023 at age 69. Ray leaves his dog, Tucker, his sister, Terry, her husband Jim Leppien, nephew Drew Leppien (wife, Laura). He also leaves his brother Pat Myers, his wife Alisa, nephew Patrick Myers (wife, Kerstin), and his nieces Rielly Myers and Sara Myers Archer (husband Rex and their three children). Ray was deeply loved by his family and will be greatly missed.

Our sincere condolences to the Myers family. Ray was a dear friend and we have memories galore! Ray was an extremely funny person and his impressions would leave you in tears. Wish we could have seen more of him in later years, but someday! RIP Buffalo

So many memories of Ray from elementary on through all our school years in Sidney. He was a one-of-a-kind, sweet and funny guy, a much-loved member of the Class of 1972. He will be missed.
