March 5, 1951 - October 13, 2022

Place of Birth: Minot, North Dakota
Residence: Ross, North Dakota
Age: 71

Diane Seibel, 71, of Ross, North Dakota peacefully passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at the Mountrail County Medical Center in Stanley, North Dakota.

Diane Edith Seibel was born on March 5, 1951 to Eddie and Helen Seibel. She attended school in Ross, North Dakota and graduated from Stanley High School in 1969. While in high school she was involved in gymnastics, track, and was a band majorette. In 1967 her gymnastics team went to state and placed 5th in the state, and Diane placed 2nd individually in the tumbling event.

After graduating from high school in 1969, Diane enlisted into the United State Navy. During the two years she served in the Navy she was stationed at Corpus Christi Naval Station in Texas. After she was honorable discharged, she attended Del Mar College and earned her associates degree in Applied Sciences. While she lived in Corpus Christi, she worked at the gas plant and got involved in stock car racing. Diane left Texas and headed North and ended up in Pocatello, Idaho for a short time before she eventually moved back home to North Dakota in 1986.

Diane had many ventures until the time of her passing. She was the Post 134 Legion Commander, clerk for Debing Township, and was on the township officer’s board. She participated in several military programs and help in retiring American flags. In 1987 she and a partner opened D & R Restaurant on Main Street. Diane also opened and operated the Dakota West RV Park in Ross, North Dakota for over 25 years. She was involved in running the bowling alley for a few years, and she bowled on a couple of teams. In 2006 she won NDWBA High Game Award when she bowled a 243!

Diane met the love of her life 31 years ago, and together with Robert Wirtz by her side they shared many adventures. The couple had many trips to Calgary, Canada for the Calgary Stampede Rodeo, and they also attended many local rodeos together in North Dakota. They were big supporters of area rodeos and Diane often sponsored cowgirl’s Rach Rodeo Team. She was a proud member of the White Earth Valley Saddle Club.

In 2015 Diane bought a small farm and together the couple built their dream home where Diane got to spend many days doing one of her favorite things, taking pictures. She loved taking pictures and always had a huge camera round her neck. She was the “Family Photographer” and often captured many family memories. From a young age she also had a large heart and a love for animals of all kinds. Diane never had any children of her own, but she loved all of her nieces and nephews like they were her own!

Diane is survived by her longtime companion, Robert Wirtz of Ross, North Dakota; sister, Dolores (Glenn) Lee of Blaisdell, North Dakota; brothers, Jack (Connie) Seibel of Minot, North Dakota and Jim Seibel of Ross, North Dakota; 10 nieces and nephews; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Proceeding Diane in death are her parents, Eddie & Helen Seibel; and her brothers, Eddie Jr. and Robert Seibel.

My deepest condolences to the family. Having lived in Ross up until about 11 years ago you all pretty much know me. Always enjoyed visiting with Diane when I lived there and visits on occasion after moving to Minot. Hoping to attend the public visitation but currently on the mend with a broken bone in my leg. Again if I don't make it back my deepest condolences.

This time in your life isn't easy. As you walk through it in a clear reflection of God's grace. There will be days that are harder than others. When you feel like this and you think it is more than you can handle. God's strength will be there to provide everything you need. With a prayer for God's comfort in your loss and praying the pain of sorrow is short lived and your fond memories are everlasting. Your Brother in Christ Jesus, Ron Dazell
