Albert Western, 91, of Stanley, North Dakota passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2022 at the Mountrail Bethel Home in Stanley, North Dakota.

Albert Arnold Western, sometimes known as Albert Western, Jr., was born on April 21, 1931 in rural Mountrail County, North Dakota to Albert & Ester (Hellum) Western. With the exception of his service in the United States Army, he lived his entire life in and around Stanley. He grew up on a farmstead that his father, Albert J. Western, had homesteaded in 1906 in the James Hill Township along with his 2 brothers Walter & Robert and 2 sisters Evelyn & Velma. Albert grew up without electricity, telephone, or running water. Albert was the third of five children and received his formal education at a one-room schoolhouse called the Rosebud School where he completed the 8th grade. He spent his youth hunting in nearby coulees, trying to keep his brother Walter out of trouble, and milking cows, feeding chickens, and riding horses.

Albert served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Metz, France. Albert continued to serve in the Army Reserves until March of 1961 when he was Honorably Discharged. He married Mary Kuhlman December 10, 1967 in White Earth, and they made their home in Stanley. Prior to marriage, Albert was employed as a farmhand for Lawrence Elefson and Henry Strobeck. He later worked for Oilfield Services in Tioga and worked for the City of Stanley for approximately 25 years, from which he retired in 1996. He and Mary spent at least a week every summer at Camp Bentley, near Drake, ND.

Albert and Mary were faithful members of the River of Life Church in Stanley, ND and excluding his love for his wife, there was no higher priority to Albert than his faith in God. Albert loved to study end times, focusing on the book of Revelations. Albert also enjoyed sharing the encounters he had with Angels and the many words the Lord has spoken to him over the years. Albert also enjoyed Ford pickups and was also quite fond of his 1972 blaze orange Plymouth Duster that he bought brand new.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; brother, Robert; and several Nieces and Nephews.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Evelyn Vincent (James) and Velma Enger (Donald); and his brothers, Walter Western & Norman Olson.

i enjoyed Albert. We would have little races and nice visits. He would be in is scooter and Mary not far behind and I'd ask him if he'd want to race. Well Albert never refused to race me. but i think he always let me win. And we would laugh. Thank you for the good time and good memories... It was fun and you won't be forgotten...
