June 30, 1939 - December 18, 2021

Place of Birth: Stanley, North Dakota
Residence: Berthold, North Dakota
Age: 82

Joan Myers, 82 of Berthold, ND passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the Trinity Medical Center in Minot, ND.

Joan (Bauer) Myers was born on June 30, 1939 to William Bauer and Alice (Lien) Bauer of Tagus, ND. Joan attended and graduated from Tagus Public School in May of 1957. After attending Minot Business College, she worked as a secretary at the Dakota Boys Ranch until she married Harrison Myers at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Tagus, ND.

The couple lived on the Birdsall-Meyer Ranch and farmed until moving to Manhattan, KS when Harrison’s National Guard unit was called up to train for deployment to the Berlin Crisis. Joan enjoyed her time in Kansas where she made life-long friends, and had their first son, Brad. They returned to North Dakota where they had their daughter, Andrea and another son, Mark. Together the couple began their lifelong dream of farming and ranching with their family near Tagus, ND.

Joan participated in community activities and events, but especially enjoyed spending time with her family and close friends. She loved meeting new people and highly respected those with honesty and sincerity. She would help anyone she thought truly needed help. Joan loved being outdoors, long walks, antique shopping, travelling, garden vegetables and flowers, ceramics, rummage sales, and auction sales.

She was a member of the St. Olaf’s Lutheran Church in Tagus, ND and the First Assembly of God Church in Minot, ND.

Joan is survived by her husband, Harrison; her eldest son Brad (Michelle) Myers of Minot, ND; daughter, Andrea (Randy) Anderson of Minot, ND; and youngest son, Mark Myers of Berthold, ND (who lives on the family farm that Joan’s grandfather homesteaded); grandsons, Shane (Ashley) Anderson and Kevin (Laura) Anderson; great-grandchildren, Alice, Colt, Barrett, and Max; and several nieces and nephews.

Joan is preceded in death by both of her parents, William and Alice Bauer; sister, Donna Matejovic; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

I have been thinking of you often and praying for all of you. Joan was a very special lady. I so enjoyed her quick wit and dry humor. I often see it in you, Andrea. And so her legacy will live on.
Remember our grand trip to Arizona?
What fond memories of each of you from that adventure.
I’m sorry for your loss and the grief you are experiencing.
I will keep you in my prayers.
With love. Danell Eklund
