Leslie Roy Jensen was born in Powers Lake on August 7, 1959, to Roy and Darlene (Olson) Jensen. He graduated from Powers Lake High School in 1978. He attended Williston State College and received a bachelor’s degree in Auto Tech.
At age nine, he began his many long years of farming with his dad by driving the tractor and picking rock. After graduating college, he continued farming as well as working at Cenex in Powers Lake. He also spent a period of time roustabouting and working on a drilling rig. Leslie had been currently employed with Oasis Petroleum as a pumper while farming and raising cattle with his sons. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church his whole life and served as a trustee for many years. Leslie was also a dedicated member of the Powers Lake Volunteer Fire Department for 40+ years. There was nothing Leslie wanted to do more than to help anyone and everyone who needed help. He would drop everything to be there to help others.
Leslie married his soulmate, Rhonda (Lindberg), in 1983. They lived in Powers Lake and began their family with the birth of their son Adam in 1987. Their family was complete when their son Eric was born in 1991. In 1999, they moved out to their farm.
Leslie had many passions in life. He loved hunting, guns, John Wayne movies, any old western shows, Kenmare pizza, and teasing others; if Leslie teased you, you knew he liked you! Obviously, he really loved Rhonda! Those who knew them well enjoyed watching Leslie and Adam have their “discussions” while Eric just sat back and enjoyed the show. The best part of Leslie’s day was his nap time with Colt. By far, his greatest passion in life was spending time with all three of his grandchildren. He was their “Papa”, and he loved them more than life itself.
Those who have yet to join Leslie in heaven: his wife, Rhonda; his son Adam (Kayla) and grandsons Luke David and Colt Leslie; his son Eric (Jess) and granddaughter Harley Rae; his father Roy; his sister Diana (Mike) Thingstad; his sister Ronda (Bill) Kuster; numerous nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces; his “brother” Larry Gullickson; and his extra “sons” Paul Velo, Tyler Grant, and Marcus Christenson.
