I'm very sad to hear of the passing of Mr. Homelvig. He was a significant part of my formative years in high school, and he had a positive impact on hundreds, if not thousands, of students over the years. My condolences to Karla and their kids.

Our best thoughts go out to you at this time. Dudley was well thought of and made such positive impacts on the youth and adults he engaged with. He left his mark in this world and many benefit as a result. Blessings to all of you, and we wish the best during this challenging time.

Karla, Tyler and Stacie, Sorry to hear of Dudley's passing. I first met Dudley when I worked with students in his classroom. He expected students to follow the rules or accept the consequences. The students knew his 2 required rules to stay on his (good side) - hat off and in your seat when the bell rings. I always enjoyed watching him work with the kids when they wrestle. He was in his element when those kids were on the mat.

So sorry to hear of Dudley’s passing. He lived a full and fun life full of service and adventure that most can only dream of. When my time comes I hope to leave this life in much the same fashion quick and within days after spending my time with those I love and working outdoors.
For those he left behind, especially Karla I am so sorry. But I believe your time apart is but a short heartbeat then your life together will go on.

Julie - i so remember your “big brother” who then became Mr. Homelvig when he coached the speech team. Gentle giant indeed, with a twinkle in his eye and the small smile every time a joke went over well. We had so much fun when he helped direct the school play “The Mouse That Roared.” Great memories of a great place to grow up with a family like yours. You will be in my thoughts.

Karla, Tyler and Staci - This evening I learned from my parents about Dudley's passing. My sincerest condolences to you all.

Your husband and dad was one of my favorite teachers at Nome Beltz High School; he was an instrumental teacher to me. One of the most valuable classes I took as a junior was his public reading and speaking class. The fundamentals I learned in that class are used by me regularly in my profession; I have Mr. Homelvig to thank for that.

Staci and Tyler you may not remember me, but I used to babysit for you when I lived down the street from your home in Nome. One evening when your mom came home, she told me that one of you referred to your dad as "Dadly" a combination of his name and role in your life. I often thought of that name while raising my own two sons when they were learning to speak.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Homelvig; you will be missed.

My sincerest condolences to Dudley's family. I am very saddened to hear of his passing. Like so many others here in Nome Dudley was also a teacher of mine as well as my wrestling coach. Not only did I have the honor of being coached by Dudley but I was also honored to watch him coach my son. Dudley showed great passion for what he taught, he was one of my favorite teachers both in the classroom and on the mat. Dudley accomplished so many things in life, the mold was definitely broke after he came along. I have so many fond memories of Dudley and wrestling trips, they are some of my favorite. Dudley played a big part in who I am today. He was a great man and he will truly be missed be all that knew him.

To the Homelvig family. I grew up just 1 mile from Curt, Marie and family. Our parents and my Grandpa Miller took turns taking us to school in Amidon for several years. Lots of memories growing up. I will donate to the Bowman High School wrestling team where Dudley wrestled. Our son wrestled for the Bulldogs and grandsons still doing the same. God Bless you all.

Karla and kids, I often remember of my final match at state and then crying with Coach while hugging for our first and last time. As seeing him smile down on the mats at state is as listening to him talk and answering of life lessons of books he has read. The bar was set with his expectations of grading levels and brought into life of yourself. I hope you read aloud my quest of life in 1969 black Chevy Nova biography soon. All you can eat Coach

Dear Karla, I'm so sorry to hear of Dudley's passing. I have wonderful memories of you both from our days in Nome. I must say while sad at this news I'm suddenly having a laugh as I recall Dudley accompanying his wrestling kids in to clinic for their sports physicals and humorously suggesting I put them down at the most favorable weight possible...he was trying to "pull one over" on me of course.
Please know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
Peace

I was so sorry to hear of Dudley's passing. We were high school classmates, football teammates, and good friends. So much time has passed but I was looking forward to seeing Dudley at our 50th year HS Graduation reunion later this year. Such an interesting life! I had so many questions for him. My regards and sympathies to all who knew and loved him.
