I was tasked with starting a junior high football program in Stanley…..my first year as a teacher.
We had older equipment but the players were so enthusiastic. We ended practice each day with everybody’s favorite play….the Sauber Smash. Mike would move back to the fullback position, take a direct snap from center and barrel up the middle where the defenders tried to tackle him….it usually took at least three to bring him down and he would lead the laughing as everybody headed to the showers. It was a joy to work with him in class and on the sports fields….. I am not surprised that he became a great Blue Jay fan.

I am saddened to hear of Mike's passing. One of the last times we met was at our 50th class reunion. We both sat at the same table ,caught up on life and commented on how we often sat near each other in classes, as teacher's assigned seats alphabetically until names were learned. Mike will be missed, and remembered for his kindness and support to others. Prayers are offered to family and friends.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Mike. Mike was my (Jenny) cousin and we share the same birthday and love of the Bison. I always enjoyed time with Mike and his big smile. He used to always saddle up a horse for me to ride at their farm when I was a teenager. It was a highlight for me. Our thoughts, love and prayers go to Mary, Tom, Barb and Joe. He will be missed.
