Betty Kay Thrams
May 12, 1955 - June 2, 2026

Place of Birth: Sidney, Montana
Residence: Sidney, Montana
Age: 71

Betty Kay (Reitz) Thrams was born May 12, 1955 to George and Lydia (Kauffman) Reitz. Betty joined brothers Larry, Gene, Kenny, and Ted and sister Mary Ann. Betty's mom passed away when she was only 2 years old. She grew up on the family farm and helped her dad with the day to day of farm life.

The family moved to town when she was a teenager and this is when she met her first husband Dennis Taylor while he was working at a local gas station. They were united in marriage in 1974 and to this union came Dennis Dean and Brandi.

Betty worked various jobs throughout her life including The Malt Shop, Dutch Mill, and many years as a district manager for the Billings Gazette, a job she truly enjoyed. She made numerous lifelong friends through this job.

In 1996 Betty and Dennis were promoted to Nana and Papa twice. Cody came along in January and Halee in December. Betty was able to help with caring for them while working from home. Years later, grandsons Caden, Nash and Austen joined the family and in 2018, Toren (who was born after dad passed) rounded out the grandkids. Dennis and Betty shared 29 years together, the last two of which she became his caregiver. She was always by his side no matter the task. Thank you for this mom, it meant more than you knew.

After Dennis passed away she gave up her job with the Billings Gazette and became a bartender at the Regal Eagle. This is where she met Blake Thrams. They dated for a short while and got married in 2012. They resided in Glendive for a few years and then moved back to Sidney. Mom was so happy to be back in her hometown and closer to family. Blake passed away in 2019.

In 2015, Betty was promoted to Granny with the arrival of Dillon. Those two were thick as thieves. Mom looked forward to the days he was with her. He definitely filled the void of a big empty house. Dillon was quite the little videographer and we have found some treasured videos of him and Granny. What a bond they shared.

Mom's health was always up and down and in the last year had really taken a turn. She had a short stay in the hospital in December and then found herself back there in January of this year. She entered the SHC Extended Care in February in hopes of going home. That was not the case unfortunately. She will be missed by those whose lives she touched.

She is survived by her son Dennis (Mande) and his sons Cody (Keziah), Caden and Austen (Karly). Her daughter Brandi (John) Sander, and their children Halee (Colton), Nash, and Toren and great grandson Dillon. Brother Kenny (Sandy) Reitz, Sisters-in-law Marlene Reitz, Judy Reitz, Bev Reitz, Marsha (Steve Margenau) Byrd, Norene (Ken) Yelich, and a brother in law Ray (Sharan) Taylor. Numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Preceded in death by her parents, George and Lydia Reitz, husbands Dennis Taylor Sr. and Blake Thrams, in-laws William and Ruby Taylor and Leon and Mary Thrams, Brothers: Larry, Gene, and Ted, and her sister Mary Ann (Dave) Howard and brothers in law Jr Byrd and Randy Taylor.

To Betty’s family and mine. I am so sorry for the loss you will be feeling for many years. I have so many memories with Betty and Dennis I don’t know where to start. Robert Robertson is a good place. Dennis and Brandi, You are the elders in the family now. Please take care of each other. Your Mom is watching. I will miss the laughs but she is with Dennis now and this makes me smile. Love you very much Betty. See ya later. Aunt Marsha.
